ILLINOIS STATE CHEERLEADING

Cheerleaders The Illinois State cheerleading squad is one of the most versatile student-athlete groups on campus. The season lasts the duration of the school year, with multiple summer practices, camps and events.

Members of the squad are expected to be leaders of the Illinois State student body, both on-and-off the field. It takes a great deal of mental and physical strength, as well as a large time commitment to be a part of the program. The program's primary mission is to support Redbird Athletics and promote crowd response and support at Redbird athletic events. Cheerleaders The program is comprised of co-ed and all-girl stunt groups, with optimal membership at 20 co-ed and 16 all-girl. The program fields cheerleaders for football, volleyball, and men's and women's basketball. The Redbird Cheerleaders also attend pep rallies, parades and numerous other functions associated with Illinois State Athletics.

The squad practices from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the South Gym of Horton Field House. Practices are open to the public for anyone interested in the program (please contact the coach ahead of time to confirm practice dates)

Tryouts are held the last weekend in April, with clinics on the Sunday and Wednesday immediately preceding that weekend.
