Orrick, Rosch Recognized for All-Conference Honors

Nov. 28, 2013

WICHITA, Kan. - Before beginning the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) tournament, two Redbird players were recognized for their accomplishments on the court this season. Emily Orrick was named the MVC Libero of the Year and Ashley Rosch was selected to the conference first-team.

For the second-consecutive year, a Redbird player was recognized as the best libero in the conference. Orrick follows Jenny Menendez from a season ago and is just the third Redbird in program history to earn the award. With the accomplishment, Orrick is also a conference first-team honoree, highlighting an extremely successful debut season in her first year as a Redbird.

The Lincoln Land Community College transfer has compiled 540 digs this season and averages a conference fourth-best 4.95 digs per set. The Mackinaw, Ill., native's efforts also led Illinois State to a conference best .150 opponent hitting percentage. Orrick's 31 service aces this season are tied for fourth in the conference, matching fellow Redbird Kaitlyn Early for the team-high.

Rosch was named to the conference first-team for the second time in as many seasons, adding to an already impressive resume in her young career. Last season, Rosch was named the conference freshman of the year, the first Redbird to earn the award since 2005. On the season, the outside hitter leads Illinois State with 356 kills, averaging 3.17 kills per set. The Fox River Grove, Ill., native ranks seventh in the conference with 3.61 points per set and has also added 271 digs this year.

The Redbirds will face Missouri State in the first round of the conference tournament Thursday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
