Garbes Signes National Letter of Intent with Redbirds

NORMAL, Ill. - Sycamore High School setter/right side, Ratasha Garbes, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Illinois State, as announced Wednesday by head coach Melissa Myers.

"We are excited to welcome Ratasha to Illinois State and our volleyball program, "Myers said. "She has had an exceptional career both in the classroom and on the court, representing two highly successful programs both at Sycamore High School and Sports Performance VBC. Ratasha has a great work ethic, is versatile and is a fantastic teammate. We look forward to seeing her take her game to the next level."

The Sycamore, Ill., native has helped the Spartan volleyball team to a share of the 2012 Big 12 Conference Championship and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2012 Season. The two-time team captain earned all-area MVP and was a member of the all-conference first team. Garbes has garnered numerous accolades including being named the Big 12 MVP in a unanimous vote, selected to the first team all-area and collected all-America honors in 2009. She secured a third-place medal for the 18 Mizuno team at the AAU National Tournament in Orlando, Fla., while competing at the Sports Performance Volleyball Club.
