NORMAL, Ill. -The Illinois State volleyball team (9-6, 3-2 MVC) is back on the road for the second-straight week to compete against Wichita State and Missouri State Oct 5-6. The Redbirds will face Wichita State Friday at 7 p.m. (CT) and will match-up against Missouri State Saturday at 7 p.m. (CT).

The Redbirds are on a two-match win streak, with their most recent victory coming against Indiana State Sept. 28. ISU defeated the Sycamores in three sets and were led by Ashley Rosch with 14 kills and 16 digs for her fifth double-double (kills/digs) performance of the season. Illinois State volleyball team heads into the fourth week of conference play with a winning record, which is a feat that has not been achieved since 2005, when the team opened the conference season 5-0.

Despite Shannon McGlaughlin's 12 kills and .367 hitting percentage, the Illinois State volleyball team lost in three-straight sets to Wichita State (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) Friday night on Doug Collins Court at Redbirds Arena.

Wichita State has an overall record of 11-5 and a 4-2 conference mark, after capturing a nonconference win against Oklahoma Wednesday, and defeating Bradley, but falling to Northern Iowa last weekend. The Shockers were led offensively by Chelsey Feekin, who recorded her first triple-double of the season and averaged .75 kills, 8.62 assists and 3.00 digs per set against two opponents. Ashley Andrade controlled the net for the Shockers and recorded 14 blocks. Feekin and Andrade both earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors. Wichita State finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 21-11 and advanced to the first round of the 2011 NCAA tournament, before being defeated by Kansas State in three sets. WSU returns seven letterwinners and four starters and adds four newcomers to the roster.

Missouri State also finished 1-1 last weekend, recording a win against Bradley, but was swept by Northern Iowa. Andrea Beaty served as an offensive threat for the Bears and led Missouri State after producing a .269 hitting percentage and averaging 3.50 kills and 1.17 blocks per set. The Bears finished the 2011 season with a 22-9 overall record, including a 15-3 finish in league play. Missouri State fell to Pepperdine in three sets in the first round of the 2011 NCAA tournament. The team returns 10 letter winners and five key returners, with the addition of four newcomers.
