NORMAL, Ill. - Set to embark on their shortest road trip of the season, the Illinois State volleyball team (10-4, 3-0) will head north to the Gentile Arena in Chicago, Ill., Friday to take on Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) newcomer Loyola (7-8, 2-2) in the first of two matches slated for the Redbirds on the weekend. The following day, ISU will head to the Renaissance Coliseum in Peoria, Ill., to take on Bradley (8-4, 2-1).

Through three matches, the Redbirds have defeated Evansville, Southern Illinois and Indiana State to start conference play, sweeping all three opponents. On the season, the Redbirds are led by Ashley Rosch with 153 kills, averaging 2.89 kills per set. Stacey Niao ranks second, compiling 132 kills along with 150 digs, while libero Emily Orrick leads the team with 203 digs. Defensively, Emily Schneider leads the team with 11 solo blocks and 44 block assists, while LeighAnn Hranka has added 10 solo blocks and 38 block assists.

Already having played four conference matches, Loyola picked up victories against Drake and Evansville with straight-set sweeps, while falling to Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois in four sets. The Ramblers are led by Morgan Reardon with 185 kills, averaging 3.63 kills per set. Despite being in their first season as members of the MVC, the Ramblers have faced the Redbirds 14 times in program history. The last meeting was Sept. 13, 2011, in which ISU swept the Ramblers, 3-0.

The Braves got off to a fast start in conference play, defeating Drake and Southern Illinois before losing in four sets on the road against Evansville last weekend. They're led offensively by Amy Angelos, who has amassed 166 kills on an impressive .359 attack percentage. Alise Tupuritis has added 132 kills and 129 digs for Bradley, as the Braves have recorded four straight-set sweep victories on the season. The Redbirds currently hold a four-match win-streak against the Braves, last falling to BU Nov. 11, 2010.
