Rosch Named MVC Freshman of the Week for Second Time

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time this season, Illinois State outside hitter Ashley Rosch was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week. Rosch was honored for her performance in ISU's home series against Northern Iowa and Bradley last weekend.

Rosch led the way for the Redbirds, compiling 30 kills, 21 digs, two service aces and six blocks in two opponents. Rosch marked a new career-high with 22 kills and 26 points in ISU’s four-set victory against in-state rival Bradley, recording twenty-plus kills for the first time in her career. She posted her fourth double-double of the season with 22 kills and 13 digs and has recorded 10 or more digs and kills in seven matches this season. Rosch recorded an impressive .326 average hitting percentage and recorded over four kills per set over the weekend.

In her freshman season, Rosch has made quite an impact, ranking first on the team in kills (144) and kills per set (2.94), while ranking third in digs (144) and hitting percentage (.218). She received the first MVC Freshman of the Week award for her performance in ISU's three wins at the Rocket Classic Sept. 7-8. Illinois State visits Indiana State Friday at 6 p.m. (CT).
