RENO, Nev. - The Illinois State volleyball team is back on the road to compete in the Nevada-Reno tournament this weekend, Sept. 6-7, in Reno, Nev. The Redbirds will begin play against Grand Canyon Friday at 1:30 p.m. (CT), followed by a nightcap against host Nevada at 8:30 p.m. (CT). The following day, ISU will face Weber State at 11 a.m. (CT), followed by the final match of the tournament for Illinois State against UC Davis at 6 p.m. (CT).

The Redbirds (2-1) continue play following the conclusion of the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Hampton Inn Invitational last weekend. The Redbirds finished in second place in the tournament, earning victories over host IUPUI and Florida Gulf Coast.

Sophomore Ashley Rosch and junior Emily Schneider were selected to the all-tournament team. Rosch picked up 37 kills and 22 digs over three matches, which included a match-high 18 kills in a five-set thriller against IUPUI. In the same match, Schneider picked up career-highs in kills (15) and points (18.5), while hitting an impressive .462 attack percentage. In total, she collected 29 kills and 16 blocks.

Two of the Redbirds four opponents this weekend feature first-time matchups in program history. Grand Canyon and Nevada have never competed against Illinois State. The remaining two opponents, Weber State and UC Davis, have each only played Illinois State once before.

Grand Canyon comes into play with a 0-2 record following losses to Weber State and Texas Tech at the Wildcat Invitational. Nevada carries a 0-3 record following losses to New Mexico State, California and a five-set match against UC Santa Barbara in the California Tournament. Weber State started 2013 with solid performances, compiling a 3-1 record while defeating Grand Canyon, UC Riverside and Seattle at the Wildcat Tournament. UC Davis went 0-3 in the Tiger Classic, losing to the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA), Louisiana State and San Diego State.
