NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State volleyball team took to the court Thursday morning for the first official practice of their pre-season schedule. Highlighted by two returning All-Missouri Valley Conference selections, the Redbirds are a veteran team loaded with experience heading into the 2013 season.

Under the leadership of sixth-year head coach Melissa Myers, the volleyball program wrapped up the 2012 season with an 18-12 overall record and an 11-7 record in conference play. With four seniors and seven juniors on this year's roster, the Redbirds are one of the most experienced teams in the valley.

Prior to beginning conference play, the Redbirds will compete in three non-conference tournaments to start the 2013 season. Their first match will be on Aug. 30, in Indianapolis, Ind., at the IUPUI tournament. The team will make its home debut and begin conference play on Sept. 20, in Redbird Arena against Evansville.
