NORMAL, Ill. - The annual red and white volleyball scrimmage will be held on Aug. 24, at 1p.m. CT inside Redbird Arena, as announced by head coach Melissa Myers Friday. The Redbirds will divide into two teams and compete against each other in a best-of-three sets match.
The match will take place the day after the annual VIB (very important bird) Season Ticket Holder dinner on Aug. 23.
The scrimmage will occur approximately one week before the start of the 2013 season. There will be no cost for admission, and fans and students are encouraged to attend. Fans will also have an opportunity to meet with the players after the match.
The volleyball team will also participate in the ninth annual Redbird Fan Fair on Aug. 17. The event, which is free to the public, will provide patrons with the opportunity to meet student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State's 19 varsity sports teams. There will also be various children's activities, carnival games, music and more.
The 2013 season will begin on Aug. 30, in Indianapolis, Ind., at the IUPUI Tournament. The Redbirds will make their home debut on Sept. 20, in Redbird Arena against conference opponent Evansville.
