Redbird Volleyball Earns Highest Women's Team GPA

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State volleyball team compiled the highest women's program grade-point average (GPA) in the 2012 Spring semester. The Redbirds achieved a 3.56 GPA, recording their best semester ever.

The team surpassed its 3.5 GPA mark from the Fall 2011 semester and had 15 members earn a spot on the honor roll. Five student-athletes recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs, including juniors Shannon McGlaughlin and Angela Rego, who've maintained a perfect cumulative 4.0 grade-point average throughout their careers.

The athletics department posted a record-setting 3.15 GPA in the Spring 2012 semester, tying the 3.15 GPA from the Fall 2011 semester. Both of the GPAs bested the previous record of 3.13 from the Spring 2009 semester. The nine women's teams combined for a 3.39 GPA, exceeding the 3.37 mark from the Fall 2011 semester for women's sports.

AFNI Athletics Honor Roll consisted of 233 student-athletes, while 57 student-athletes achieved a 4.0 GPA for the semester.
