PEORIA, Ill. - The Redbird volleyball team defeated Bradley in three sets (25-19, 27-25, 25-19). Illinois State was led by sophomore Shannon McGlaughlin with 12 kills and senior Kristin Stauter who tallied 33 assits, six kills and no errors for a .857 hitting percentage.

The Redbirds started out with a three point deficit and trailed through the start of the first set until sophomore Angelo Rego pounded a kill to make the score 8-7. The team followed Rego's lead after Stauter won a joust at the net and sophomore LeighAnn Hranka marked a tip kill from the backrow. Bradley answered back with three kills, but a tool-kill and an ace from the service line by McGlaughin gave the Redbirds the momentum to close the first set 25-19. McLaughlin led all hitters in the first set with five kills and no errors.

Bradley opened the set with an ace and a two point serving run from freshman Madison Kamp, but the Redbirds tied up the set (2-2) with a kill from Eliza Smith and solo block from Emily Schneider. Illinois State committed a stretch of unforced errors which gave the Braves a 9-6 lead. Both teams continued to battle in the midst of the second set until Rego smashed a kill down the line and Illinois State tallied back-to-back blocks (21-18). The Braves continued to fight back with three kills in four points forcing Illinois State to call a timeout. The Redbirds answered back with two back-to-back kills by McGlaughlin. The Redbirds captured the second set in extra points (27-25) with the help of two BU errors in the final points.

Illinois State controlled the net in the third set with two blocks in the first rally and nine total blocks on the match. Amy Angelos recorded two consectuive kills and a setter attack from Kamp kept the Braves within one point (12-11). Senior Tabitha Visk's two kills and a BU attack error pushed ISU to a 15-12 lead. Illinois State continued to hold the lead with the help of two solo blocks from Hranka and 42 Redbird kills in the match.
