Margot Frederick enters her second year as director of volleyball operations. Frederick's volleyball coaching resume includes stints at the junior high, high school and club levels.
The Liberty Center, Ohio, native came to Illinois State after spending a year as the head coach at the Performance Point Volleyball Club in Lafayette, Ind. In the 2007 season, she served as the varsity assistant coach, and junior varsity head coach, at West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School in West Lafayette, Ind.
At West Lafayette, Frederick helped mentor four All-Hoosier Conference selections, and both the varsity and JV teams captured the conference championships. Frederick's JV squad finished the season with a 17-6 record.
Frederick's collegiate playing days included three years at Cleveland State (2004-06) and one season at Owens Community College [Ohio] (2003). The defensive specialist was a key contributor for the Vikings in both her junior and senior campaigns, when CSU compiled overall records of 19-10 and 19-9, respectively, and earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) regional rankings.
At Owens CC, Frederick set the Express to a 40-9 record, the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and regional titles and a fifth-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championships. Frederick compiled 297 assists and 128 digs on the season and was named to the all-conference all-academic team.
The 24-year old Frederick graduated with her bachelor's of science degree in psychology from Cleveland State in 2007. She will complete her master's degree in sports management in December 2009.
