Redbirds Travel to Compete in ITA Midwest Regional

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's tennis team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete in the six-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Midwest Regional Championship hosted by Michigan, Oct. 10-15. The winners of each draw will receive bids into the ITA National Indoor Championships. The Redbirds will also travel to Rockford, Ill., to compete in the Regional Two hosted by Northern Illinois.
Competing for the Redbirds in the ITA Championships are Phyllis Tigges, Kadi Ilves and Emmie Marx, who will compete in the singles main draw. In doubles competition, Marx and Ilves will compete in qualifying doubles.
The ITA Championship will utilize live scoring and results will be posted as they are received found here.
Joining Illinois State to compete at the ITA Championship is Michigan, Akron, Bowling Green, Chicago State, Cleveland State, DePaul, Detroit, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, IPFW, Marquette, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Toledo, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Youngstown State.
Also competing this weekend is Madeliene Baillon and Heather Nisbetwho will travel to Rockford, Ill., Oct. 11-13 to compete in the Regional Two hosted by Northern Illinois at the Boylan High School Indoor Courts. Baillon and Nisbet will compete indivdually as well as in a pair during doubles play.
This will be ISU's final weekend of competition until the spring season when the Redbirds host Eastern Illinois on Jan. 24, 2014 at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Normal, Ill.
