Milwaukee, Wis.-The Illinois State women's tennis team (6-7, 1-0 MVC) is set to face off against the Marquette Golden Eagles (9-8) on Sunday, March 24.

The team enters the competition having recently fallen to the No.31 Memphis Tigers, 7-0 on Saturday, March 16. The match against Memphis marked the end of a four match series on the road for the team that spanned across two states.

The Redbirds began the series against New Orleans, and came from behind to top the Privateers, 4-3. However, the team was unable to maintain momentum from the win on the road and the Redbirds fell to No.39 Tulane, as well as McNeeese State before competing against Memphis. Overall, the team is 3-6 on the road this season.

Marquette had great success early in the spring season, winning 8 out of 10 matches in February; however, the Golden Eagles have lost five straight matches. Most recently, Marquette was defeated by No.57 San Diego State, 5-2. Marquette boasts an overall record of 6-1 at home with the only home loss of the season to DePaul, 6-1.

The match against the Golden Eagles will take place in Milwaukee, Wis. at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. Play is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more
