Women's Tennis to Travel to Nebraska
Feb. 14, 2014
OMAHA, Neb. - The Illinois State women's tennis team is preparing to travel to Omaha, Neb., and Lincoln, Neb., this weekend to face Eastern Michigan, Nebraska and former Missouri Valley Conference-foe Creighton.
The Redbirds are on a three-match winning streak after defeating Saint Louis, Indianapolis and Butler, and the team hopes to keep up the momentum as it prepares for the weekend.
"I think we've been playing well, and I hope that we can keep building on what we did last weekend," head coach Chris Hoover said. "I think that if we come out and play like we have been, we're going to do fine."
Over the last 10 season, ISU has faced Creighton in every season, resulting in 10-straight wins over the former-MVC foe. ISU has played Eastern Michigan only once during the 2006-07 season where the Redbirds fell, 5-2. The Redbirds have also faced Nebraska two times, during the 2012-13 and 2010-11 seasons, where the Redbirds fell to the Huskers in both battles.
"I think Eastern Michigan and Nebraska are going to give us a real opportunity to see if we've got some kids ready to make some moves," Hoover said.
The weekend's match schedule is as following:
Feb. 14 at Creighton, Omaha, Neb., 3 p.m. CT
Feb. 15 vs. Eastern Michigan, Lincoln, Neb., 3 p.m. CT
Feb. 15 at Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb., 11 a.m. CT
