INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Illinois State women's tennis team is preparing for a dual match weekend in Indianapolis to take on the Indianapolis Greyhounds on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. and Butler Bulldogs on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.

The Indianapolis versus Illinois State match-up will mark the first time the teams have met in Redbird women's tennis history. Indianapolis' head coach Malik Tabet and Illinois State head coach Chris Hoover's friendship is what inspired a battle of the two teams. Tabet is in his second season as the Greyhounds head coach for both the men's and women's squad.

"We don't know what to expect at the Indy match," Hoover said. "But we're excited with the unknown."

The Hounds currently sit at 1-0 after defeating Tennessee Wesleyan, 8-1, last week while on the road. ISU will mark the first match at home for Indianapolis in the spring season.

On Sunday, the Redbirds will take on Butler in Indianapolis. In seasons past, ISU has faced Butler in nine of the last 10 years, edging the Bulldogs in all but one of those matches. Hoover feels the Bulldogs will prove to be a tough competition for the Redbirds.

"It is always a good match when we meet Butler," Hoover said. "I think it will be a tight day of play, comparable to the competition we faced during the Eastern [Illinois] match."

Coverage of both matches in Indianapolis will be updated on Twitter @ISUWomensTennis and the ISU Women's Tennis Facebook as results are received.
