Women's Tennis finishes second day at Ball State Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Illinois State women's tennis team advanced in eight of 13 competitions in singles play and five of seven match ups in doubles play as the Redbirds finished the second day of the Ball State Invite Saturday.

"Today was better than yesterday," Head coach, Chris Hoover, said. "We won a lot more matches than we lost and thats what we're looking to do at these tournaments."

In Saturday's single play for the Redbids, Kadi Ilves advanced in Flight C with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Eastern Kentucky's Saioa Oscoz. Next Iives faced IUPUI's Bobbi Modesto won with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Ilves continued on her victory streak by defeating Ball State's Toni Ormond 6-0,6-2. Tomorrow she will face Miami (Ohio)'s Ana Rajkovic in the finals.

Freshman Sierra Stone advanced in Flight A against Cleveland State's Princess Gbadamosi with a score of 6-2,6-0. She defeated Wright State's Tori Turner 6-7(5),6-2, 10-6 before facing Chicago State's Kirsa Utech.

The Ball State Invite will continue it's third and final day Sunday morning at 8 a.m. CT.
