The win at Evansville is important for the Redbirds who are just 4-9 on the road this season. The team is also coming off a tough loss to Southern Illinois on Saturday, 6-1.
Next, the team will travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on Missouri Valley Conference rival Creighton on Sunday, Feb. 17. Creighton currently holds a record of 0-2, having fallen to No. 17 Nebraska as well as Iowa. Play is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT.
Singles began with a, 1-0 Nebraska lead. Play started after a brief intermission and things continued to go wrong for the Redbirds. The team came out hard and lost all but one singles match.
The Redbirds last competed on Friday, Feb. 8, defeating the IUPUI Jaguars, 5-2.
The match against the Jaguars marks the third consecutive win for the Redbirds who seem to finding their footing after a season opening loss to Illinois. The team bounced back from the loss and has opened up the spring season with a 3-1 record, remaining unbeaten at home.
