NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head swimming coach Steve Paska and graduate assistant Sarah Dunleavy are accepting enrollment for Redbird swim lessons and technique clinics.

Swimming lessons and technique clinics will be held on Oct. 7, Oct. 14 and Nov. 11 at Illinois State's Horton Pool. The swimming lessons and technique clinics will focus on four strokes: butterfly, freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.

The swim clinics are designed to help develop and refine stroke mechanics while allowing swimmers to gain self-confidence and experience the Redbird atmosphere. The swim clinic will also help swimmers gain core balance and stroke efficiency.

"Our goal for each swimmer is to gain a better understanding of stoke mechanics and technique while having fun," Paska said. "For younger swimmers our goal is to encourage them so they reach the next level in swimming."

The first thirty minutes of each clinic will focus on one stroke, which will be followed by thirty minutes of another stoke. The last fifteen minutes of every clinic will focus on starts and turns.

The Illinois State swimming team will be instructing the lessons under guidance from Paska and Dunleavy. All swimmers ages 6-18 are welcome. Competitive swimming experience is recommended but not required.

More information about the clinics and registration can be found in the online brochure located on GoRedbirds.com.
