Fourteen Redbirds Named to Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Conference announced the 2012-13 Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete team of 52 student-athletes this Monday, which included 14 Redbirds. Illinois State had the highest amount of student-athletes named to the team.

To be named on the Scholar-Athlete team, student-athletes much have completed at least one year of schooling and maintain either a 3.2 grade point average and obtain All-Conference honors, achieve a 3.5 grade point average and finish in the top 16 of an individual event at the conference championship, or maintain a 3.8 grade point average and participate in the MVC championship.

The fourteen Redbird student-athletes that received the Scholar-Athlete honor are Tori Alland, Morgan Buechele, Maureen Doyle, Erica Halley, Valerie Jones, Maggie Kopp, April Livingston, Alexis Nash, Katherine Nelson, Madicyn Prouty, Samantha Schuckles, Danielle Schumacher, Arica Woolbright and Wenting Zhang.

 

 

Of the 14 student-athletes honored from Illinois State there were five with a cumulative GPA over 3.8. The student-athletes were Doyle, Schumacher, Kopp, Halley and Jones.

The Redbirds finished their 2012-13 season at the MVC Championships in second-place.
