CHICAGO, Ill. - The Redbird divers competed in the UIC Diving Invite at Illinois-Chicago Saturday, which led them to multiple personal and season-best performances, including Brittany Tazzioli and Wenting Zhang breaking school records on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Tazzioli broke the school record on the 1-meter board with a score of 286.65, to place second. The Libertyville, Ill., native had another personal best performance on the 3-meter board, scoring a 263.55 to place fourth.

"Brittany led the Redbird team on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards," head diving coach Phil Hoffmann said. "She continues to improve throughout the season, and she will definitely end her career as a Redbird on an extremely high note."

Sophomore newcomer Zhang showcased her skills most notably on the 3-meter board, scoring a 298.60 to place second. Qualifying for the zone regional in her first ever meet for the Redbirds, Zhang also set a new ISU record in the event.

"Wenting had a fantastic 3-meter dive," Hoffmann said. "We are extremely impressed with her form, skill and ability, and I look forward to continue to train with her through the rest of the season."

Personal best scores on the 3-meter board were also recorded from every other member of the team, including Maureen Doyle with a 257.40 to place sixth, Polly Hirt with a 250.50 to place eighth, Maggie Kopp with a 239.55 to place ninth, and Madicyn Prouty with a 238.95 to place tenth.

Hirt also recorded a personal best score on the 1-meter board of 249.95 to place fifth, while Kopp's performance on the 1-meter gave the sophomore a personal best score of 241.35.

"This was a great weekend for the whole team," Hoffmann said. "To have all of our divers have at least one personal or season best performance over the weekend is outstanding. I am very pleased with how everything went, and this is a great way to lead off into the meet next Saturday, as well as the upcoming conference championship."

The Redbird divers will join the swimmers back home in Horton Pool Saturday for Senior Night, as well as the last season dual meet. The competition is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
