NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State swimming and diving will host its' first dual-meet of 2014 against UNI on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 pm. This will be their first match up against UNI since the Redbirds' victory in 2012.

This is the second weekend of a four week span of competitions for the Redbirds. Head coach Steve Paska is excited to see how Illinois State will compete after a delayed arrival home.

"I am looking forward to seeing how the Redbrids compete after their intense training in Puerto Rico and our delayed return from San Juan," said head coach Steve Paska. "The November 8 meet against Evansville was the last time the Redbirds competed in a dual meet setting, and we excited to swim and dive against the solid Northern Iowa team. Since the Missouri Valley Conference Championships are only 34 days away, every opportunity the student-athletes have to race is extremely important to prepare them for the meet."

Diving coach Phil Hoffman is excited to see how the divers will measure up in these short few weeks before the championships in February.

"After some time off and a great training trip in San Juan I am really looking forward to seeing how the divers have come along in our preparations to this point," said Hoffman."Northern Iowa is well coached and has a talented group of divers. It will be a great meet to see where we stand before the MVC championships next month."

The Redbirds are coming off of a second-place (40.5) victory at the Copa Coqui Invitational where they fell to Illinois (58). The Redbirds competed against eleven other teams and two swimmers took home first-place. Cecilia Holmes earned first-place in the 200-individual meter medley (2:30.77) and April Livingston won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.13).
