"I am impressed with the student-athletes. We trained differently because we have two days of competition, and the swimmers have given it their all when it is time to race," head coach Steve Paska said. "There were a lot of fans here tonight, and it was a huge crowd for us. From the start we had a great momentum going and it never let up. This was a collective team effort, and we raced consistently and to the best of our ability."

Yontz also finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.35) and 100-yard freestyle (52.99). Holmes finished first and earned a personal best time in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.91) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.20). Sophomore Samantha Schuckles finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (59.32) and 200-yard backstroke (2:10.23). "All the student-athletes stepped up, and we had a number of season best and personal best swims," Paska said. "This was an outstanding night of performances by the entire team and now we have to rise to the challenge tomorrow against Northern Iowa. The staff and I are looking forward to how the team rises to the challenge of competing two days in a row."

Sophomore Katherine Nelson earned a personal best and finished in third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.29). Senior Morgan Buechele won first and a personal best time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.44).Senior Danielle Schumacher (10:46.55), sophomore Valerie Jones (10:50.54) and senior Emily Susmarski (10:55.97) had season best times in the 1000-yard freestyle. Schumacher finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle followed by Jones in second-place.

Zhang not only broke the records in both 1-meter and 3-meter boards but also won first place in both events.

"It was a very solid contest and diving at home is always a huge bonus. Many times with diving it comes down to your environment, familiarity with the boards and surrounding, and the team did a great job," diving coach Phil Hoffmann said. "Wendy broke two pool records, which is a great accomplishment. This was a very great set up for tomorrow, and I believe it will be good competition."

The Redbirds will be competing again Saturday, Nov. 3, at Northern Iowa. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
