Diving Coach

Tom Davidson, a 2001 Indiana graduate, joins the Redbirds as the head diving coach this season. Davidson is continuing his education at Illinois State, pursuing a master's degree in business.

Davidson comes to Illinois State following a successful diving career with the Hoosiers. He was a three-time NCAA All-American and was a Big Ten diving champion for four years. Davidson was also named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 1997. He has competed internationally in the FINA World Invitational in Japan, World University Games in China and Goodwill Games in Australia. Davidson has also been a member of the New York Athletic Club since 2003.

Head coach Steve Paska is encouraged by Davidson's experience.

"Tom shows passion and a good work ethic," Paska said. "I am looking forward to the relationship that will be formed."

With experience as a diver and a coach, Davidson is optimistic about the upcoming season.

"I am excited about getting into coaching at the college level," Davidson said. "I want to introduce the girls to new dives and difficulty levels to produce higher finishes. The team has a lot of potential and I would like to improve upon that."
