Lauren Connolly enters her second year on the Illinois State swimming and diving staff as a graduate assistant. Connolly is a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., where she swam and later coached for St. Petersburg Aquatics. She arrives at ISU from South Florida, where she earned her bachelor's degree in communications.

While attending USF she spent a semester abroad at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. Prior to attending USF, Connolly swam at Youngstown State.

For the past three summers, Connolly has worked at the University of Texas Longhorns' Swim Camp as a counselor/coach where she had the opportunity to work with multiple Olympians and Olympic coaches. This past summer, Connolly was an intern for Speedo, where she attended the 2008 Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.

Head coach Steve Paska feels Connolly brings great passion and enthusiasm to the team.

"Lauren has the passion and excitement to be here," Paska said. "She knows what it takes and brings energy to the team to get the most out of the swimmers. Her love of swimming rubs off on the girls and she instills values of honesty, work ethic and enthusiasm for the sport."

Connolly is pursuing her master's degree in sports management. As a competitor, she swam mostly middle distance and distance freestyle, and she continues to swim at the master's level.
