Dec. 3, 2008
NORMAL, Ill. - Spots remain open for the upcoming Illinois State softball program's winter hitting and pitching clinics, as well as ISU's development clinic. Downloadable forms for each clinic can be found by clicking on the links on the softball home page of the Illinois State Athletics Web site at GoRedbirds.com, or by clicking on the "Camps" link on the front page of the ISU Athletics Web site.
Each hitting and pitching clinic will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 14, with instruction to be given by Fischer, as well as Redbird softball assistant coaches Tina Kramos and Bill Kennedy. The trio of coaches has a combined 58 years of coaching experience between them, with Fischer having led the ISU softball team as its head coach for the past 24 years. All clinic participants will receive a camp T-shirt, while lunch will be provided for those who register for both the hitting and pitching clinics.
The Redbird Development Clinic will take place Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, and will help campers develop the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful softball player. Clinic participants will be under the tutelage of Fischer and her assistant coaches, as well volunteer assistant coach Bill Dickson, the ISU softball team and select Redbird softball alumnae. All participants will receive a camp T-shirt, along with lunch.
The hitting and pitching clinics will be split into four separate sessions, each taking place Dec. 14, inside Horton Field House on the Illinois State campus. A hitting clinic for participants in grades six through eight will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a pitching clinic for participants in the same age group from 1-4 p.m. A pitching clinic for high school-age softball players will be conducted from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a hitting clinic for that same age group from 1-4 p.m.
Cost for participation in one of the hitting/pitching clinics is $115 per clinic, or $200 for both clinics. The registration fee includes insurance for all clinic participants. The deadline to register for either the hitting or pitching clinics is Friday.
The Redbird Development Clinic will be an all-day camp for softball players in grades two through eight. Check-in will begin at 9 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, inside Horton Field House, and will be followed by various instructional sessions throughout the day. The clinic will conclude at 4 p.m.
