Redbirds Enjoy Final Day on Curaçao
Nov. 23, 2012
WILLEMSTAD, Curacao - The Illinois State softball team spent its final full day on the island of Curaçao completing a morning workout before a free afternoon. The day concluded with a belated Thanksgiving meal cooked by the hotel restaurant.
The morning workout, dubbed the "Redbird Triathlon," featured an ocean swim, beach run, sit-up and burpee relay race between two teams. After that, players and staff spent their final day on the island lying on the beach, going to the aquarium, enjoying the downtown Willemstad dining and shopping and playing beach volleyball. The Thanksgiving meal consisted of turkey, ham, tenderloin, rice, potato salad, salad, vegetables and pumpkin pie.
The Redbirds will depart for home early Saturday morning. The team will fly from Curaçao to Miami, before connecting to St. Louis. After that, a bus will get ISU back home Saturday evening.
