Redbird Softball Clinic Deadline Approaching

NORMAL, Ill. - Head coach Melinda Fischer and the Illinois State softball team will host separate pitching, catching and hitting clinics, Sunday, Nov. 17, at Horton Field House for any player between sixth and 12th grade. Registration is open now through Nov. 11.
The day will begin with the pitching and catching clinics from 9:30 a.m., to 12 p.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The pitching clinic will feature instruction from pitching coach Shannon Nicholson on four basic pitches (rise, drop, curve and change-up) as well as pitching strategies. The catching clinic will highlight knowledge on a variety of areas from former ISU baseball standout Ryan Duncheon, such as set up, game management, framing, blocking and throwing.
Following the pitching and catching clinics, the hitting clinic will take place from 1 p.m., to 3:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 12:30 p.m. ISU associate head coach Tina Kramos will instruct participants on hitting all pitch locations and making hitting adjustments.
The three clinics will be held again on Sunday, Jan. 12. Additionally, a developmental clinic designed for girls second through eighth grade will take place on Sunday, Jan. 19. Registration for all of these sessions is open now as well.
