Fall Schedule Concludes With Two Losses at Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. - The Illinois State softball team concluded its eight-game fall schedule with two losses at Wisconsin, Saturday afternoon. The Badgers won game one, 3-0, before taking game two, 3-2.
The Redbird bats were held in check by the 2013 Big Ten Tournament winners, as ISU mustered just seven hits combined. Freshman Annie Heineman was the only Redbird to tally multiple hits on the afternoon, combining to go 2-for-6 with one run scored. Taylor Baxter, McKensie Vissering and Regan Romshek all pitched for the Redbirds.
Game One - Wisconsin 3, Illinois State 0
The Redbirds were limited to just one hit, a single from Heineman, by the combination of Cassandra Darrah and Sara Novak. Wisconsin scored twice in the third and once in the fifth against Baxter, who went 4.2 innings. Vissering relieved her with 1.1 perfect innings, while also striking out one.
Game Two - Wisconsin 3, Illinois State 2
ISU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI from Laura Canopy and Romshek, with Heineman and Nichelle Harrison scoring the runs. Wisconsin halved the ISU lead with one run in the third, before scoring twice in the fifth to go up 3-2. Romshek pitched the entire game for the Redbirds, and surrendered seven hits, while striking out seven.
The Redbirds went 4-3 in fall games that featured an official score.
