Game One - Illinois State 7, Valparaiso 0

The Redbirds jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, providing starting pitcher Taylor Baxter all the run support she would need. Baxter went the distance and surrendered just one hit, while walking four and striking out five.

Regan Romshek led the way offensively for ISU, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Annie Heineman and Laura Canopy recorded two hits apiece as well for the Redbirds, who registered nine in the game.

Gallant began the scoring by tripling home Canopy in the first inning. Romshek then singled to score Gallant, giving ISU a 2-0 lead. Sara Bradley scored in the second to make it 3-0, before ISU busted the game open with a four-run fifth inning.

Kolby Hoffman led off the decisive frame with a triple, before scoring two batters later on a base hit by Heineman. Canopy drove home Nichelle Harrison with a single to make it 5-0 Redbirds, before Romshek plated Heineman and Canopy two batters later to make it 7-0 ISU.
