NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State softball team will continue its fall slate by co-hosting the sixth-annual State Farm Illinois Collegiate Softball Championship, Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22, at Champion Fields in Normal. ISU will be one of nine teams participating in the event that is put on in conjunction with the Bloomington-Normal Area Sports Commission, Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Town of Normal Parks and Recreation Department.

In addition to Illinois State, Ball State, Bradley, Heartland, Illinois Central, Illinois-Springfield and Valparaiso will play four games over the two days. Olivet Nazarene will compete twice on Saturday only, while St. Xavier will play two times on Sunday.

Unlike in years past, the 2013 event will feature two days of scheduled games, rather than one day of pool play and one day of bracket play. Saturday's action will occur at 12 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., CT, while Sunday's games will be at 10 a.m., and 12:30 p.m., CT.

The Redbirds will play four games throughout the weekend. ISU squares off against Valparaiso and Olivet Nazarene on Saturday, before taking on Heartland and Ball State on Sunday. All of the Redbirds' games will be played on Field 1.

Tickets for adults are $12 for the weekend, or $8 per day. Tickets for youth and seniors are $8 for the weekend, or $5 per day. Children five and under are free. Youth, junior high, high school and college softball teams that wear a team shirt can purchase a ticket for only $3.

Before the ICSC, the Redbirds will play their only home fall scrimmage tonight at 6:30 p.m., against Lake Land. Admission is free at Marian Kneer Stadium.
