Akron, Ohio - Hey all you Redbird and Racer fans! What an exciting week it has been, and it is only going to get better this week. With five games left in the season, we are tied for the last spot in the playoffs.

Right now, we are in the middle of an eight-game road trip that starts in Washington, D.C., and ends in Philadelphia. We have one game left in Washington, D.C., against the Washington Glory, and then, we will jump on a bus and head over to Philly just a few hours away. I grew up watching St. Louis Cardinals games almost every night, and they would talk about the team having 10-day road trips. I would wonder what that would be like to be traveling from one place to another, and I'm sure their traveling is a little more luxurious that ours, but I still found that it's not all that bad. Really, game day is almost easier because you have absolutely nothing to do besides go to the game at night. We usually walk around during the day and go to lunch to get out of the hotel, and then it's time to head to the field for batting practice.

For me, there couldn't be any better way to end the season than in Philadelphia. My former Redbird teammate, Stacy Birk, plays for them, and I'm definitely excited to see her. Not only did Stacy and I play together for four years, but we trained this past offseason together. I'm not sure how it will be to see her in the opposing dugout, though.

Hopefully, we'll have some luck out there, and we'll come home with a playoff spot. It would be good if we could win a few straight games and clinch a playoff spot, because right now, it is still a mystery where we will be in two weeks. Our team has never been good at doing things the easy way, so I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to the final out of the season to decide our fate.

Next week, we will know whether we are in the playoffs or if our season is over, so be sure to check back. Until then, Go `Birds!
