OMAHA, Neb. - Senior catcher Elizabeth Kay is the Illinois State softball team's lone representative on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team, as announced following Saturday's championship game in Omaha, Neb.

Kay, who was named MVC Player of the Year and All-MVC First Team Wednesday, went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in the third-seeded Redbirds' only game of the tournament, a 5-3 quarterfinal loss to No. 7-seed Evansville, Thursday night. The Purple Aces went on to advance to the championship game, falling 2-1 to No. 4-seed Northern Iowa.

The Bartlett, Ill., native leads the MVC in batting average (.428), on-base percentage (.538) and RBI (44), also ranking among the national leaders in those categories. Her 166-career RBI are the most in Redbird history, and one shy of the all-time MVC mark.

With the loss to Evansville, Kay and the Redbirds sit at 28-20 overall heading into Sunday night's NCAA Tournament selection show at 9 p.m., on ESPNU.
