Feb. 11, 2013

WACO, Texas - Following a 2-3 performance in Baylor's Getterman Classic over the weekend, three Illinois State softball players were named to the event's all-tournament team. Freshman infielder Brittny Drish, senior outfielder Jhavon Hamilton and freshman pitcher Regan Romshek were voted to the team for their performances in the Redbirds' five games.

Drish opened her collegiate career by recording at least one hit in each of her first five games, going 7-for-10 overall, with two RBI, two runs, one double, one walk, one hit-by-pitch and one stolen base. Her weekend was highlighted by a 3-for-4, two run, two RBI performance in the Redbirds' 8-0 win over No. 22 Baylor on Feb. 8.

Hamilton, a 2012 NFCA All-Mideast Region First Team selection, was consistent throughout the weekend, reaching base at least once in every game. She went 4-for-14 with three runs, two doubles, a triple and six walks for a .500 on-base percentage. Hamilton's best game came in the victory against Baylor, as she went 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk.

Romshek made an impact both in the circle and in the batter's box, as she saw action in all five Redbirds contests. The Gibson City, Ill., native went a combined 5-for-13 from the plate with two runs, one RBI and a hit-by-pitch. She also started three games in the circle for ISU, going 1-2 with a 4.44 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. She earned her first-collegiate win in ISU's finale, allowing four runs in 6.1 innings in the 5-4 win over Sam Houston State on Feb. 9.

ISU started out the tournament 0-3, losing to Sam Houston State, 8-6, No. 22 Baylor, 5-0, and Northern Illinois, 3-1, before rebounding to knock of the Lady Bears, 8-0, and Bearkats, 5-4.

Next up for the Redbirds is a trip to Tempe, Ariz., Feb. 15-17, to take part in Arizona State's Littlewood Classic. They will play Minnesota twice on Friday, Michigan State and No. 4/4 Arizona State on Saturday and UIC on Sunday.
