Tejada Earns NSCAA All-Region Accolades
Dec. 4, 2013
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Illinois State soccer junior Rachel Tejada is a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Great Lakes Region Second Team selection, as announced by the organization Wednesday morning. The distinction is the third of Tejada's career, as she earned first-team accolades in 2011 and second-team status last year.
Tejada earned her third-straight Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honor after leading the conference with 42 points on 15 goals and a league-best 12 assists, which is also a single-season ISU record. She also ranks among the national leaders in numerous offensive categories, including assists (10th), points (13th) and goals (23rd).
Tejada's 139-career points (54 goals, 31 assists) are the most in MVC history. She is also the program's all-time assists leader, and is five goals shy of the league- and program-record of 59. Tejada will enter the 2014 leader as the active career leader in points and goals for all of NCAA Division I.
With Tejada's selection, 12 players have earned all-region distinction in head coach Drew Roff's seven seasons at ISU. At least one Redbird has been named all-region in five-straight and six of Roff's seven seasons.
Additionally, Tejada was named a finalist last week for the Soccer News Net College Boot award, which recognizes the women's college player of the year. Online fan voting is open through Dec. 18.
