NORMAL, Ill. - Sophomore forward Rachel Tejada and senior back Kristin Cooley were tabbed as All-Great Lakes Region selections by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Tejada was a second team selection, while Cooley was voted to the third team.

Tejada was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for the second-straight season, after totaling 46 points on 18 goals and 10 assists. The Troy, Ill., native ranks top-seven nationally in goals (seventh), goals per game (sixth with 0.90), points (sixth) and points per game (fifth with 2.3). She also leads the MVC in all of those categories.

Tejada has already made her mark on the ISU record books through just two seasons. She ranks second all-time in points (97), goals (39) and assists (19). Her 21 goals as a freshman in 2011 also broke the ISU and MVC single-season high. She became the first Redbird to earn first team all-region honors.

Another recognition Tejada is in the running for is the Soccer News Net College Boot Award, given to the nation's top player. Fan voting, which makes up 40 percent of the overall votes, is currently ongoing through Dec. 15.

Cooley, one of two team captains, started all 20 matches for the Redbirds in 2012. Overall, she played in 75 games throughout her career, making 74-straight starts. She became the program's all-time leader in minutes played at Drake on Oct. 25, finishing her career with 6,592. She tallied two assists on the season, earned All-Valley First Team recognition and is tied for ninth on the program's all-time list with 10.

The two selections bring head coach Drew Roff's total at Illinois State to 11. A program-record four Redbirds were named all-region last year.

The Redbirds recently finished their second-straight 13-win season and NCAA Tournament appearance. After defeating Indiana State, 5-1, Nov. 4 in the MVC Tournament championship match, ISU's season ended with a 3-0 loss at fourth-seeded Marquette, Nov. 10.
