NORMAL, Ill. - Juniors Kyla Cross and Anna Stinson have been tabbed as Capital One Academic All-District V First Team selections by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The distinction recognizes a student-athlete's combination of academic and athletic success.

Cross, an exercise science major, holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA through her first four semesters at ISU. She has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in three of four semesters, including Fall 2010, when the soccer team set an ISU Athletics record with a 3.70 cumulative GPA.

Athletically, Cross is second in the conference and on the Redbirds with seven goals and 17 points this season. An All-MVC Honorable Mention selection, Cross set an ISU single-game record with four goals in a 9-2 victory over Indiana State on Oct. 14. She was the 2011 MVC Tournament MVP, scoring four goals in two games, and was second on the Redbirds with eight goals last season on her way to an All-MVC Second Team selection. The Clinton Township, Mich., native started all 18 games as a freshman in 2010, scoring one goal with two assists.

Stinson, also an exercise science major, boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA, and was an Academic All-District V Second Team selection last year. Stinson also won an MVC Elite 18 Award in 2011, given to the individual with the highest GPA in a MVC Championship. She was also a MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honoree and MVC Good Neighbor Award recipient.

Stinson was named to the All-MVC First Team for the second-straight season in 2012, after she scored two goals and tallied an assist in 13 games. Last year, Stinson recorded 19 points on five goals and nine assists on her way to NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team recognition. The nine assists were the second-most in single-season history at ISU. The Kalamazoo, Mich., native was an All-MVC Honorable Mention and All-MVC Freshman Team selection in 2010.

The duo's selection represents just the third time in program history that two or more Redbirds were recognized on the Academic All-District V First Team. Three Redbirds earned the distinction in 2010, while two were highlighted in 2003.

Cross and Stinson are both eligible for Capital One Academic All-America® Team recognition, as voting will take place in the coming weeks. Bethany Brown, third team in 2010, and Tiffany DeClark, second team in 2003, are the only Redbirds to earn Academic All-America® distinction. Cross and Stinson next take the field tonight at 6 p.m., against Creighton in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament in Omaha, Neb.
