NORMAL, Ill. - A late change in the pre-season schedule made Eclipse Select Soccer Club the Illinois State women's soccer team opponent for the squad's first exhibition match of 2005. The game will be played Sunday at Adelaide Street Field at noon.

Illinois State head coach Pete Kowall is eagerly anticipating the first match of the fall soccer season. He's excited about the level of competition Eclipse promises.

"Exhibition games are a luxury we're afforded in the game of soccer," said Kowall. "They are an awesome way to evaluate where our team is and where we need to go. Eclipse is a great team and a few of our girls actually played for the club. This will be a great opportunity for us, and we look forward to Sunday."

Eclipse, an prestigious organization based in Libertyville, Ill., boasts the membership of current Redbirds Joyce Kleinheinz and Carrie Schurr, as well as former Redbird soccer standout Tiffany DeClark.

Kleinheinz, a senior and captain for the Redbirds this season, also looks forward to Sunday's scrimmage.

"This will be a good challenge for us," said Kleinheinz. "Exhibition games are always exciting because we get to see the freshman play, we are able to evaluate how our team is clicking and what we need to work on to be successful in the regular season. This year is unique in that we are able to have three preseason games before the season starts. These exhibition games will be very beneficial to our team."
