EAST LANSING, Mich. - Despite Redbird goalkeeper Sasha Reiber recording three saves within seven and a half minutes in the first half, the Redbird offense was held to five shots in the shutout loss to Michigan State, 2-0, Friday at DeMartin Stadium.

"Sasha came up with some big saves in the first half," said head coach Drew Roff. "When we play a team of Michigan State's caliber, we knew they were going to get some scoring chances. MSU has some players that can really finish. Sasha's saves kept us in the game by keeping it 1-0 in at the half. It was our goal to have the game be a one goal game at the half either way. She did a nice job."

Reiber played all 90 minutes as goalkeeper for the Redbirds, recording four total saves and two goals allowed, as the Redbirds move to 1-3-1 on the season.

The Spartans remain undefeated this season, 4-0-1.

In the first half, the Redbird offense was held to only one shot, while the Spartan offense tallied seven shots with four shots-on-goal. MSU's Lauren Hill recorded five shots in the half, scoring MSU's first goal 22 minutes into the game.

Hill continued right where she left off for the Spartans in the second half, scoring MSU's second goal 63 minutes into the game.

ISU's best scoring choice came 61 minutes into the game as Erin Egolf's shot was saved by MSU goalie Jill Flietstra.

Flietstra recorded two saves on the game and has only allowed one goal this season.

ISU's Raquel Rattray led the team in shots with two.

"I'm proud of the team's effort," said Roff. "I thought our organization and communication were right on target. I also think we defended well as a team, but Michigan State has some special players."

The Redbirds will continue their Michigan weekend Sunday when they play Central Michigan at noon at Mount Pleasant, Mich.
