Redbirds head to Chicago to Compete in State of Illinois Classic

NORMAL, Ill - The Illinois State gymnastics team will travel to Chicago to compete in the State of Illinois Classic on Saturday. The competition will be a quad meet between Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago and Illinois-Champaign. The competition is set to begin at 5 p.m.

The Redbirds competed against the Flames already this season in a Midwest Independent Conference match-up. On February 25 and 28 the `Birds fell to Illinois-Chicago by a score of 193.725-192.400 and 194.100-192.325.

Illinois State is ranked third in the Midwest Independent Conference in total points. The Redbirds average score is 191.891. MIC in-state rival, Illinois-Chicago, is ranked second with a total score of 192.745.

Illinois-Champaign is currently ranked No. 16 in the nation, while Northern Illinois is ranked No. 42.
