NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Athletics Department will acknowledge a special group Sunday, March 4, when the Redbird gymnastics team hosts in-state foe Northern Illinois on Senior Day. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in historic Horton Field House.

A part of Senior Day, graduating seniors Melissa Mann, Hannah Meyer and Robin Weissman will be acknowledged after the conclusion of the meet with a special presentation, given by head coach Bob Conkling and assistant coach Steve Avgerinos, highlighting their accomplishments as Illinois State gymnasts.

“All three of the seniors have made major contributions to both the team and the athletic department in their four years as Redbird student-athletes,” explained Conkling. “Melissa has the top beam score average this season on the team and in the Midwest Independent Conference, Hannah started as a walk-on gymnast who earned a scholarship this year for her consistency as a competitor and Robin has had a remarkable come-back in all four events after two torn ACL’s within the last two seasons.”

ISU fans are encouraged to come out and support Redbird gymnastics during its final home meet of the 2012 season. Admission to this event is free. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
