NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State seniors Whitney Albright, Anne Fjordholm, Tove Fjordholm and Carolina Posada pulled together with the rest of their team to clinch second place with a score of 187.825 against Illinois (194.675) and UW-La Crosse (184.175) on Sunday afternoon. With two meets left before the State of Illinois Meet, the Redbird gymnasts will look to tally up a few more wins.

Head coach Bob Conkling believed each of his seniors will be missed in their respective events.

"Anne (Fjordholm) has been injured and she came back and would have had a 9.65 beam set if she wasn't favoring her bruised foot," said Conkling. She can always pull out a good beam routine.

"Nina's (Posada) floor exercise was excellent except for a mistake on her bonus. She has added a new skill and has had some very good routines this season.

"Tove (Fjordholm) had the best floor routine on our team today and got second overall. She never scores low and had a season high of 9.775, which is great.

"Whitney (Albright) was the only one to really hit her bar set the way she is capable of hitting it. She got a 9.550. She also had her best vault this season, even if it wasn't her highest score," Conkling said.

Meaghan Koshman also had a good day tying her season-best score of 9.800 on her vault. Koshman also carded a 9.625 and 9.600 on her beam routine and floor exercise, respectively.

"Koshman nailed her beam set today," Conkling said. She had her head on today and hit her floor routine. They are both big for her.

"Thank goodness for Lisa Mulchek also hitting her beam routine with a 9.600."

The Redbird gymnasts will look forward to a week of preparing their balance beam and uneven bar routines. Conkling believes they need to go back to the drawing board on these events in preparation for Eastern Michigan on March 10 and Southeast Missouri State on March 13.
