Redbirds Set to Close Out the Fall Season at the Hoosier Fall Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's golf team will head to Greenwood, Ind., to compete in the Hoosier Fall Invitational, its fifth and final tournament of the fall season. The two-day competition will begin Saturday at the Hickory Stick Golf Club.

Head Coach Darby Sligh is excited to finish the season at Hickory Stick and looks for her to team to rise to the occasion.

"We are prepared to end this fall season with a bang," Sligh said. "We have worked hard, we fought all season and this is the week to put it all together against a very strong field. We must have the best from every single person in the line-up in terms of consistent mental and physical execution."

The Redbirds will look for another stellar performance from senior Rachel Powers, who is averaging a score of 229 this season. Powers, who was named the MVC Golfer of the Week for the second time this season, led the Illinois State women's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the LPGA Xavier Invitational, where she carded her season-high score of 222 (74-75-73), finishing in the top-five on the individual leader board.

Others competing for the Redbirds will be seniors Brianna Copper and Jordyn Wyzgowski, as well as junior Hayley Guyton and freshman Maggie Ambrose. Rounding up the line up will be senior Carlee Cossell and sophomore Courtnee Cossell, as both will be competing as individuals.

Illinois State will compete against 14 other teams across all conferences, including Ball State, Boston College, UC Davis, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Louisville, Minnesota, Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Toledo and Xavier
