Jean Receives Fifth Valley Golfer of the Week Honor

April 17, 2013

ST. LOUIS - Senior Katie Jean was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office Wednesday. It is the fifth time this season Jean has received the accolade.

Jean continued her dominant ways on the links, as she recorded a top-five finish at the Indiana Invitational over the weekend. Jean finished the three-round tournament with a score of 223 (76-75-72), shooting par on her final round. It is the second time this season that Jean has recorded a top-five finish, as she ended the tournament tied for third with the 7-over-par score.

Jean led the Redbirds to a sixth-place finish with a team score of 928 (314-314-300). ISU defeated Missouri Valley Conference rivals Southern Illinois, Bradley, Evansville and Drake, heading into the conference championship.

The Rantoul, Ill., native has finished first for the Redbirds in every tournament played this season, including an impressive streak of six-consecutive top-ten finishes on the individual leader board. Jean's highest accomplishment this season was winning the Redbird Invitational on Sept. 9.

Jean and the women's golf team will return to the course at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, April 21-23, in Sunrise Beach, Mo., as ISU looks for its fifth title in six seasons.
