Oct. 19, 2013

GREENWOOD, Ind. - After the first day of play at the Hoosier Fall Invitational, the Illinois State women's golf team is tied for fourth place with a team score of 299. Due to darkness, the final holes of the second round were postponed until Sunday. The Redbirds were led by Rachel Powers, as she shot 1-over-par 72 and is tied for second place on the individual leader board.

Illinois State is tied with Boston College for fourth place after one complete round, while Purdue is in first place with a score of 293. UC Davis is three strokes behind in second with a 296.

"In a bitter cold and rainy start to our day, this team came out with a lot of heart and at one point, was leading a very tough field," head coach Darby Sligh said. "We were not able to finish round two due to darkness, but I know we will need a very big push Sunday to stay in the top of the field. We cannot let up for one second."

Jordyn Wyzgowski is in a tie for 15th place with a score of 74, while Brianna Cooper (75) is a stroke behind and tied for 18th place. Hayley Guyton shot a 78 and Maggie Ambrose carded an 82 rounding out the Redbird lineup through one round.

Courtnee Cossell shot a first-round score of 84, while Carlee Cossell had an opening score of 90, as the duo competed as individuals for ISU.

The Redbirds will return to the course Sunday morning at 8 a.m., (CST) to complete the second round, before beginning the third round at 8:30 a.m. (CST).
