Final Stats
Manhattan, Kan. -
For the second time in three events this fall for the Illinois State women's golf team, weather has cancelled the final round of play. The Redbirds finished seventh in the 12-team, rain shortened event after recording a two-round-total of 615 (313, 302).
"Our girls are disappointed they were not able to compete today," said head coach Darby Sligh. "We really played well in round two yesterday and we were excited about the opportunity we had to move up the leader board"
Sophomore Stacey Miller led the Redbirds finishing tied for seventh individually following a two-round-total of 149 (73, 76). True freshman Terra Miller finished tied for 26th after posting a two-round-total of 155 (79, 76) and junior co-captain Tiffany Hockensmith tied for 28th after firing a two-round-total of 156 (80, 76).
"I am pleased with our consistency so far this year," said Sligh. "It is hard to carry momentum over from one week to the next but hopefully our girls can take some of the things we have done well so far and put them to use next week in Indiana."
Kansas won the Sunflower Invitational with a two-round-total of 600 (302, 298). The Jayhawks finished just two strokes ahead of second place Missouri who recorded a 602 (303, 299) as a team.
The Redbirds are back in action Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8-9 when they head to the Legends of Indiana Golf Club in Franklin, Ind. to compete in The Shoot-Out at the Legends.
