NORMAN, Okla. - Junior Rachel Powers led the Illinois State women's golf team for the second-straight day at the NCAA Central Regional Friday at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. Powers shot a 3-over-par 75 in the second round, as the Redbirds ended day two in 21st place with a team score of 619 (301-318).

"We beat ourselves Friday," head coach Darby Sligh said. "Even though we had tougher conditions, we just didn't accomplish what we set out to do. The final round will be about coming back and finishing what we started at the beginning of the season. The experience of playing for a chance to get to the national championship is something that can't ever be taken away, and I know we have learned so much that we can take into next year. Saturday's round should be a lot of fun."

Powers is in a tie for 39th place with a two-round score of 149 (74-75), while senior Katie Jean fired a second-round score of 76, just like she did in the first round. On Friday, Jean shot a 3-over-par on the back nine and was 1-over on the front nine, the opposite of Thursday's round. The Rantoul, Ill., native has a two-round score of 152 (76-76) and is in a tie for 66th place.

Sophomore Hayley Guyton carded an 83 in the second round, while junior Jordyn Wyzgowski shot an 84. Guyton (76-83) and Wyzgowski (75-84) are tied on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 159. Junior Carlee Cossell has a score of 170 (84-86) at the end of the second day of competition.

Oklahoma leads the field after the second day with a team score of 569 (283-286), shooting 7-under-par as a team. Duke is close behind in second with a two-round score of 575 (284-291), while Florida is 14 strokes out of second place with a team score of 589 (282-307).

The Redbirds look to close the seven-stroke gap between ISU and Gonzaga, as the field of 24 teams will tee off Saturday at 7:30 a.m., for the final round. Illinois State will tee off between 12:55 p.m. and 1:39 p.m.

Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com, with results to be distributed at the conclusion of the tournament.
