READY TO GET STARTED

Chloe Nelson led the Redbirds with 16 points, while Stekara Hall posted 13. Alison Seberger grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in 29 minutes of action, which surpassed the 27 total minutes she played all of last season. Hall led the charge with four steals, while Nelson notched three and dished out five assists in a team-high 36 minutes.

GETTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT
Illinois State is 21-21 all-time in season-opening games. Over the last 10 seasons, Illinois State is 7-3 in season-openers, winning its last four-straight. The Redbirds open the 2013-14 season with a road game to Northern Kentucky, and ISU looks to win its fifth-straight season opener. The last time the women’s basketball program won four-straight season opening games was 1981-1985, under the leadership of Hall of Fame head coach Jill Hutchison. ISU has never won five-straight season opening games in program history.

IN A REDBIRD UNIFORM
Freshmen Zenobia Bess, Mackenzie Freeman, Kalyn Gebhardt and Taylor Stewart saw the court for their first collegiate basketball experience in the exhibition win over Northwest Missouri State. Freeman had six points with four rebounds and an assist, while Gebhardt had two rebounds. Bess added a block and a steal in five minutes. Freeman played 21 minutes in the exhibition game, the most of the freshman class.
