NORMAL, Ill - The Illinois State Athletics Department has announced an exciting opportunity for Illinois State students to become the Redbirds' "Super Fan" at the Dec. 6 women's basketball game versus Eastern Michigan. Fans will have the opportunity to submit a 300-word written response to the ISU Athletics Department detailing why they think they are the "Redbird Super Fan," and three finalists will be chosen for a chance to be declared the Illinois State "Super Fan" during the ISU women's basketball team's Dec. 6 home game versus Eastern Michigan.

A prize package that includes $200 cash, a $50 Redbird merchandise gift package from The Alamo II, $50 in general gift certificates, a Redbird Arena commemorative photo and the honor of calling oneself the "Redbird Super Fan" for an entire year will be given to the winner of the promotion.

In order to be nominated as one of three finalists for the "Redbird Super Fan" promotion, fans must submit a written response of no more than 300 words detailing exactly why they feel they are the "Super Fan" of Illinois State Athletics. Written submissions can be e-mailed to superfan@ilstu.edu, and all submissions must be received by Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Once all submissions are received, three finalists will be selected to compete in the "Redbird Super Fan" election that will take place during the Illinois State women's basketball team's Dec. 6 home game versus Eastern Michigan. Tip-off for that game is slated for 2:05 p.m.

Each finalist will have a chance to then state their case for why they think they are the "Redbird Super Fan" in a 30-second video clip that will run during select Illinois State Athletics events throughout the month of November, as well as on GoRedbirds.com, the official Web site of Illinois State Athletics.

The "Redbird Super Fan" promotion is being run by the Illinois State Kinesiology and Recreation Department's Seminar in Sport Marketing and Public Relations class, which is made up entirely of graduate students, in conjunction with the Illinois State Athletics Department.
