CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Illinois State struggled shooting the ball in the first half on the road against Northern Iowa and trails the Panthers, 28-26, at halftime. The Redbirds' 28 points is the second-lowest total in a half all season and their 23.5 shooting percentage is their lowest in a half all season. Sophomore forward Ashleen Bracey scored a team-high nine points in the first half.

The Redbirds made their first two shots from the field, as Lewis made a jumper from just outside the key and Hudson canned a three-pointer from the left corner, to take a 5-0 lead in the first minute of play. After that, ISU struggled from the field, shooting 2-for-19 over the next 12 minutes, including a four-minute stretch without a field goal. The Panthers capitalized on the Redbirds' poor shooting with an 18-4 run to take an 18-9 lead with 9:19 remaining in the half.

ISU managed to cut the lead down to four points, 18-18, but UNI connected on back-to-back three-pointers to take its first double-digit lead of the game, 24-14, at the 5:38 mark. Illinois State closed out the half with a 10-2 run to pull within a basket at intermission, 28-26.
